Health Education England (working across Yorkshire and the Humber)
On the back of previous successful projects, Health Education England working across Yorkshire and the Humber (formerly HEYH) contacted Illuminaries to develop an application to allow potential GP Trainers to submit online applications.
Health Education Yorkshire and the Humber
Health Education Yorkshire and The Humber is one of the 13 LETBs established by Health Education England in 2012/13 to monitor quality and training of students and trainees in NHS England. A part of this process requires a Dean’s Report to be submitted to the GMC twice a year as a spreadsheet recording concerns, recommended actions and progress along with examples of good practice. Each submission typically took one person, a month or more to collate the information from various sources.
Leeds Teaching Hospitals
A browser-based application developed using Microsoft .NET technologies and running across the Leeds Teaching Hospitals network, provides screens to manage workflow from referral through to reporting. Clinicians can upload and annotate photographic images to the database made during the examinations as well as perform keyword searches on image tags and reports.
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals
The original e-PAQ system was designed to assess and diagnose female pelvic floor problems but has been re-engineered into a more generic form to cater for any clinical or other instrument following the e-PAQ approach. The application will automatically adapt the flow through the questionnaire depending on responses given to certain questions, either by skipping sections or individual questions or asking more probing ones.
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals
The Haemato-Oncology Diagnostic Service for South Yorkshire is based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals (STH) and was set up to provide a centralised service within the county for the diagnosis of blood related cancer cases. Biopsy and other samples taken from patients suspected of having a blood related cancer are sent to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals for lab testing. Some samples may be forwarded to Sheffield Childrens’ Hospital (SCH) for further, specialist genetic tests.
South Yorkshire Postgraduate Dental Office
Previous clients the South Yorkshire Postgraduate Dental office were more than happy to call upon Illuminaries to develop their latest system - the significant events database.
South Yorkshire Postgraduate Dental Office
Automatic booklet generator using MS Access and Word. At the click of a button, a customised booklet is created depending of specified parameters. Allows non-technical staff to update generic and booklet specific content easily.
The Postgraduate Dental Education Office (PGDEO) for South Yorkshire and the East Midlands Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education deaneries
The PGDEO for South Yorkshire and the East Midlands Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education deaneries, based in Sheffield, co-ordinate among other things, continuing professional development (CPD) for registered dental practitioners. Part of this process is the review and acceptance for suitability of courses run by centres throughout the region. To quality for CPD status, these courses must meet certain criteria and for many years these have been captured in an Access database (known as the Admin Database) developed by Illuminaries more than 10 years ago and managed by staff within the PGDEO. This required that course organisers at the centres submitted course proposals on paper forms to the PGDEO and the details then entered into the database.
Following on from the successful systems requirements capture Illuminaries were commissioned to carry out in 2007, for a child protection system for the Republic of Maldives; Illuminaries were asked to develop the application in 2009.

Latest NewsMajor milestone passed with QM Application
In October 2014, the first Dean’s Report generated entirely from the database was submitted to GMCNational HCV Database - One Year On
In the first 12 months, the centres have recruited over 3000 patients into the study, close to a third of the way to the target of 10,000* and apart from a dip across the Christmas period, the cohort is growing at approximately 100 new patients /week. The number of centres across the UK has also grown, from the original 18 to almost 40. To date the system has scaled up nicely to accommodate the additional load, with no loss of performance evident.read more
