illuminaries...turning data into information

Now in its second incarnation, the ESPID website was originally developed in classic ASP and included a secure members area and voting system. After a number of successful years, ESPID commissioned Illuminaries to redevelop the website to cater for their ever increasing membership and to give the site a fresher but more professional look and feel.

The latest site was developed in ASP.NET (framework 1.1) and at the time of upgrading the site, the opportunity was taken to include a content management system, giving ESPID greater control over their site. The website also features, news, events and awards, all of which can be maintained using the CMS, along with a secure members' area, members' forum and online subscription payments. Subscriptions are automatically handled by the website, allowing members to renew their membership without having to contact the ESPID support team, but also preventing non-renewing members from accessing the members area, based on the rules set out by the society.

Each year, votes are held for positions on the ESPID board. This voting is handled by a second online application, which allows anonymous voting from the ESPID members. Data analysis is also carried out by Illuminaries to produce statistics based on the ESPID elections.

"The ESPID Board met yesterday. Everyone likes the new website and no one has had any problems with it. It is much much easier to manage the content."
Prof Adam Finn, Secretary, ESPID
